Civil War History Found in Wisconsin

23 Aug 2022

I found this badge last weekend in Wisconsin with my Equinox 800. It was between 8 and 9 inches deep, at roughly 20-21 on the VDI. After the Civil War, veterans got together to hold reunions to honor their service and their comrades, etc. Usually, this was done through groups like the G.A.R. (Grand Army of the Republic) or the regiments themselves. The 21st Wisconsin Regiment fought at Chickamauga (1863) and formed an association after the war. Reunions were held at various places over many years. This particular badge is from 1907 and the association was from Appleton, Wis. It's not too often you find anything Civil War related in Wisconsin, so I was very excited after I did the research and found what I had.
